1919 – the Chodura brand is born
In the difficult post-war period, when independent Czechoslovakia was first established, Chodura bet on diligence and genuineness and his efforts paid off. Thanks to their high quality, the Chodura products became renowned throughout North Moravia. This allowed him to expand his business to implement his own large-scale production of hams. He still lived by this motto…
Karel Chodura“Each and every customer is our most important one.”

In 1948, the dream of Chodura’s butcher shop becoming a wholesale had come to an end because of the actions of the newly established communist regime. After the war, the communist government closed his business and Karel Chodura – until then the most successful butcher in Ostrava – was forced to become an employee at Pramen, a business owned by the government. However, thanks to his business mind and passion for his craft, he eventually became the manager at Pramen. Under his leadership, the shop enjoyed unprecedented success and showed excellent results.
In his life he accomplished great things and was able to provide for his whole family even during the most difficult times. He always emphasised quality, originality of products and orientation towards the customer – these values and attitude that have endured and, not much different than the hundred years ago, now form the basis of the Chodura brand.
